This Privacy Policy explains what information PaintVue collects, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We're committed to being transparent and keeping your information secure.

1. Who We Are

PaintVue ("PaintVue," "we," "us," or "our") operates the AI-powered exterior paint visualization service at paintvue.com. We are based in the United States. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@paintvue.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use PaintVue:

Account information: Your name and email address, collected via Clerk when you sign up or sign in.
Uploaded photos: Images of your home that you upload to generate AI paint renders. These are stored on our servers to power the visualization service.
Render history: The AI-generated renders produced from your uploads, along with the color selections and settings you chose.
Payment information: Billing details processed by Stripe. We never store your full card number, CVV, or banking credentials. Stripe handles all payment data.
Usage data: Pages visited, features used, clicks, and other behavioral signals collected via Google Analytics 4 to help us improve the product.
Cookies and local storage: Small files stored in your browser to maintain your session, remember preferences, and support analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, operate, and improve the PaintVue service.
Generate AI paint visualizations from your uploaded photos.
Process payments and manage your credit balance or subscription.
Send transactional emails (render confirmations, receipts, account alerts).
Analyze usage patterns to identify bugs, improve performance, and prioritize features.
Respond to your support requests or inquiries.
Use renders for marketing and promotional purposes as described in our Terms of Service (you may opt out at any time by emailing us).

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. How Your Photos Are Processed

When you upload a photo and request a render, your image is sent to Google's Gemini AI API for processing. Google processes the image to generate the paint visualization and returns the result to us. Your photos are subject to Google's Privacy Policy during this processing step.

Uploaded photos and AI renders are stored on Render.com's persistent disk infrastructure and may also be stored on Cloudflare R2 object storage. These providers maintain their own security and data handling practices.

We do not use your uploaded photos to train AI models, and we do not share them with third parties for purposes other than generating your renders.

5. Share Links and Public Renders

PaintVue allows you to generate a shareable link to your render. Anyone with this link can view the rendered image. Share links do not expose your name, email address, or any other personal information. They only provide access to the render image itself.

If you share a link publicly, be aware that the rendered image (which depicts your home's exterior) will be accessible to anyone who has the URL.

6. Cookies and Analytics

PaintVue uses cookies and similar tracking technologies for the following purposes:

Session cookies: Required to keep you signed in and maintain your workflow between pages.
Preference cookies: Store your settings and color selections within a session.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4): Track usage patterns, page views, and feature interactions to help us understand how PaintVue is being used. Google Analytics data is anonymized and aggregated. You can opt out using Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies in settings. Disabling session cookies may prevent you from using the service.

7. Third-Party Services

PaintVue integrates with the following third-party providers. Each has their own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:

Clerk: Authentication Manages sign-up, sign-in, and account security. Stores your name and email. Clerk Privacy Policy

Stripe: Payments Processes all credit and subscription purchases. Handles payment card data securely. We never receive or store your raw card details. Stripe Privacy Policy

Google Gemini API: AI Rendering Receives your uploaded photos to generate AI paint visualizations. Google Privacy Policy

Google Analytics 4: Usage Analytics Collects anonymized usage data to help us improve the product. Google Privacy Policy

Render.com: Infrastructure Hosts the PaintVue application and stores uploaded images and renders on persistent disk. Render Privacy Policy

Cloudflare R2: File Storage Object storage for render images and uploaded photos. Cloudflare Privacy Policy

Resend / SendGrid: Transactional Email Delivers account-related emails such as receipts and render confirmations. Your email address is shared with these providers solely to send messages on our behalf.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account information and render history for as long as your account is active. Uploaded photos and renders may be stored indefinitely to support your render history and any future refinements.

If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data and associated render files within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any legal retention obligations.

9. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate information in your account.
Request deletion of your account and associated data.
Opt out of marketing use of your renders.
Object to analytics tracking via the Google Analytics opt-out tool.

10. Children's Privacy

PaintVue is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@paintvue.com and we will delete it promptly.

11. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and secure third-party infrastructure. However, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of PaintVue after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. For material changes, we may notify you by email.
